More About Ashley…
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor (LCAC) in the state of Indiana. My office is located in Indianapolis, Indiana, in the heart of Broad Ripple Village. I’ve been a practicing therapist since 1996, and in private practice at my current location since 2009.
More about my training….
I have a thorough knowledge of family systems therapy and specialize in childhood sexual abuse, emotional and physical abuse, and addictions.
I completed three years of Gestalt Therapy training, which provides a strong foundation for my work. Gestalt therapy uses experiences occurring in the here and now as a framework for understanding and coping with past experiences.
I am very interested in a holistic approach to wellness and encourage my clients to consider the body & mind connection. I frequently include mindfulness-based practices and skills in sessions. This includes assessing and talking about lifestyle practices and behaviors that may impact mental health.
I have extensive experience studying attachment theory and the impact of attachment challenges on family relationships. I stay abreast of cutting-edge neuroscientific research about the brain and the relationship between biology and psychology.
I am a practicing EMDR therapist and find this extremely useful in overcoming trauma and complex-trauma. EMDR is a therapeutic technique used for reducing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder by re-training the brain’s method of storing traumatic events.
I believe strongly in doing my own growth work; this allows me to be a better therapist, parent, spouse, and human being. I believe in relationships and their power to help us heal. I provide support and encouragement, but also gentle nudges and direction. I believe that therapy should challenge us and help us grow.
